About FRED RUSSO - Attorney At Law

Fred received his B.A. Degree in political science from California State University, Northridge in 1973. He was on the Dean's List and Honor Roll. He went to Whittier College, Beverly School of Law, graduated cum laude in 1976, and was admitted to the California Bar the same year. His State Bar Number is 72481.

After admission to the California Bar, Fred worked for Everett and Yzurdiaga, a criminal defense law firm and as a Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney, where he prosecuted driving under the influence charges. After leaving the District Attorney's office, he served on the Court appointed conflicts panel (Penal Code Section 987.2) representing indigent defendants who did not qualify for the services of the Public Defender because of a conflict of interest. The majority of these cases dealt with driving under the influence and related charges. In 1978, he formed a partnership with Kenneth A. Meersand, a former Deputy District Attorney in San Luis Obispo and current City Attorney for Hermosa Beach. Ken moved to northern California in 1979 and Fred then formed a partnership with Joel B. Silver.

Fred's practice has focused on the defense of driving under the influence cases. He has handled more than 2,000 misdemeanor and felony driving under the influence cases. He has extensive experience in trial and Department of Motor Vehicle hearings. He is well known and respected by local courts and prosecutors.
